RM69.00 – RM189.00
Artisanal Dark Roasted Green Tea Powder
AKANE embodies the alluring complexities of intense roasted-smokiness due to the high-roasting profile it entails.
Crafted from Yabukita cultivar and grown in humble meadows of Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures in Kyushu Island, this dark brown roasted green tea offers a divinely smooth mouthfeel when sipped. This transcends into a distinct smokey flavour, culminating in underlying notes of dark chocolate and cacao.

What’s the difference between TSUBAKI / Houjicha and AKANE / Dark Roast Houjicha?
TSUBAKI / Houjicha is medium roasted over charcoal and has a Hazelnut-like aroma with a medium roasted and nutty flavour, ending with notes of sweet caramel and a seaweed-like finish. Unlike AKANE / Dark Roast Houjicha that has a high-roasting profile, giving it its signature luscious and deep roasted and smokey flavour layered with notes of dark chocolate and cacao.
Does AKANE contain caffeine?
AKANE / Houjicha is a perfect alternative to coffee. Despite it having a roasty coffee flavour, it actually contains very low amounts of caffeine due to the special roasting process of green tea leaves. If you are sensitive to caffeine, try drinking AKANE / Houjicha!
How many cups of Houjicha should I drink a day?
It is recommended to drink not more than 3 cups a day.
Can I use AKANE/ Houjicha in baking?
Of course! We recommend you to use AKANE / Houjicha in any of your desserts or pastries. Our selection of Houjicha powders are trusted and used by hundreds of our cafe and patisserie customers & clients worldwide.
